"FOOD as FUEL CHALLENGE - 2010"
Goal: The goals of the, "Food as Fuel Challenge", are to promote healthy eating to support human performance and healthy body measurement changes, improve perception and knowledge of healthy food choices, and to win and have fun!
Event Details
Time: January 4th-February 13th, 2010 (6 weeks)
Place: Kick-Off on Jan 4th, 2010 5:30-7:30 pm @ the Box. Challenge-Wherever and whenever you eat!
Cost: 20.00 Enrollment Fee for each participant
Rules/Guidelines: All participants will be required to attend the Jan 4th 5:30-7:30 pm initial meeting. This time will be utilized to take key measurements for body statistics and performance. We will also have a short Nutrition Clinic to answer questions and discuss healthy eating principles.To be eligible for rewards, all participants must have measurements taken before starting the challenge.
CrossFit Fort Worth supports the use of the Zone Diet, Paleo-Diet or Maker's Diet as acceptable methods for healthy eating. These diets support a healthy balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
Each participant will be required to keep a daily meal food journal (included in the performance journal), and it may be inspected at any time by a coach. Failure to keep a journal disqualifies the participant. (Specific measurements of food are not required just contents)
The use of prescription, artificial, herbal or supplemental diet aids such as, Dexatrim, Hydroxycut, Amphetamines etc.. are not acceptable and will disqualify a participant.
The Challenge will last for 6 weeks. At the end of the Challenge on Feb 13th, measurements for performance and body statistic awards will be taken. Failure to have measurements taken or participate in lifting or Metcon testing, will disqualify a participant from being eligible for the rewards within those categories.
Consistent participation in weekly WOD's is key to promote performance and body measurement changes. We recommend training at least three times a week.
Awards:
There are two categories in which participants can be eligible for awards, Performance and Body Measurements.
Performance measurements will be taken using CrossFit Total for Strength and "Fran" for metabolic conditioning. Awards will be given to the highest percentage increase in CrossFit Total and highest percentage decrease in "Fran" time.
Body Measurement awards will be based on the greatest % of body fat decrease, largest body weight decrease, largest loss of waist and thigh measurement. Calculations will be based on both percentages and actual inches or pounds lost.

1 st Place 4 Month Membership Credit / Website Highlight of Participant / 1 hour Massage / T-Shirt
2 nd Place 2 Month Membership Credit / 30 min Massage / T-Shirt
3 rd Place 1 Month Membership Credit / T-Shirt
* All participants who complete the challenge will be awarded a certificate and T-shirt. Each participant will be given a copy of their measurements and a before / after picture after the challenge. There will be separate winners in each award category.
